Chicago, Illinois, March 23, 2015 — Deonte Jackson, 35, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of March 16, 2015, at Green Dolphin Street nightclub in the upscale north side Chicago neighborhood of Bucktown. Mr. Jackson’s family has retained Chicago trial lawyers, Smoler Law Office, to represent the decedent’s estate. Sergeant Thomas Flaherty, Area 3 Homicide, Gangs, and Sex Division, is heading up the ongoing investigation.

Says managing attorney Robert J. Smoler, “A person in Chicago has the right
to go to a club and not be shot and killed. We demand justice for those
affected by this tragedy. Alderman Waguespack made numerous requests for
[Green Dolphin Street’s] late-night license to be revoked. A tragedy like this could have been prevented had the City honored those requests.”

Trial attorney Emma Smoler adds that, “This act of violence that left two dead,
occurred right down the street from a community grocery store and a
children’s play room. This is a tragedy for the Jacksons, and a tragedy for the
community. We intend to hold the guilty parties responsible and pursue justice for the family of Mr. Jackson, which includes a minor daughter who lost her father.”
